The One with the Sonogram at the End

Second day was kind of a struggle and so was this episode.

The One with the Sonogram at the End (Season 1, Episode 2)

  • Ross is unbearable.
  • I want to pretend like this is the first time I’m watching the series but on this one… I can’t… IS CAROL A DIFFERENT ACTRESS IN LATER EPISODES AND I NEVER NOTICED BEFORE?!?!
  • Barry seems like a total squid. Rachel made the right choice.
  • They scavenge through the lasagna with their bare hands and then Joey eats it. I don’t like my friends that much.
  • Monica kissing Ross as she leaves is weird. Stop. Doing. That.

The One Where I Exercise

Today was harder. No soreness or anything like that but my energy level was super low. 22:29 on the elliptical – didn’t push beyond the length of an episode. 165 active calories, 209 total calories. 110 bpm average heart rate. Did not push myself at all here so I’m proud of the result.

The One Where I Eat Stuff

  • Plain bagel with butter
  • Honey turkey
  • Turkey and cheese on wheat with a handful of potato chips
  • 2 oatmeal cookies, 2 Reese’s peanut butter cups, Strawberry Lemonade GoodPop

Still room for improvement in my eating habits. Lots of it. But this transition will take time and I can’t try to do everything all at once to perfection or I’ll go insane.

The One Where Monica Gets a Roommate (Pilot)

Here. We. Go.

Today I got the go-ahead to resume physical activity after having my second baby. Knowing that we’ll definitely be waiting longer to have #3, I’ve been planning to actually put effort into exercise this time around. At some point during my couch-sitting days the past few weeks I came up with an idea that might actually get me committed.

Aside from snuggling my babies and enjoying my time away from work, the one thing I’ve done a boatload of is watch “Friends” – did you know that it’s practically on 24 hours a day, and that’s without Netflix? Okay. I’m exaggerating. But not by much. Shout out to you, Nick at Nite.

Thanksgiving fell during my first couple weeks postpartum which means I had the pleasure of enjoying all the Thanksgiving episodes. SO. GOOD.

Here’s how this is going to work. I’m going to commit to cardio exercise (healthy eating and other methods of exercise as well) while watching and recapping as many episodes as I can. I’d like to believe I’ll stick it out and cover every episode but let’s not get too crazy on the first day. To keep things interesting, I’ll probably change the format of the recap depending on how I feel about the episode (and maybe my workout). Today, some highlights and observations.

The One Where Monica Gets a Roommate (Pilot) Season 1, Episode 1

  • Monica dresses like she’s in Little House on the Prairie
  • Phoebe sits on the floor in a public place (ew.)
  • Ross sucks.
  • Was the opening scene and the rest of the episode filmed about 2 years apart from each other? It feels like it.
  • Ross is the worst.
  • Joey in some kind of sleeveless vest is weird. I know it’s the mid-90s but how exactly is he a ladies-man in that attire?
  • Ross is so whiny.
  • How on earth does Rachel not realize that people have jobs, even if she is extremely sheltered by her daddy’s money?
  • Monica kissing her brother goodnight is weird. Actually, so is the fact that she’s basically cuddling on the couch with him.
  • Phoebe is beyond whacked.

The One Where I Exercise

30 minutes on the elliptical. Spanish fella literally grunting while lifting weights in the apartment complex gym. Never looked at him, maybe he wasn’t actually Spanish and he just retained more middle school foreign language than I did. The Spanish rep-counting was a nice touch. The grunting, not so much.

Apple Watch credits me with 187 active calories, 242 total calories and 119bpm average heart rate.

The One Where I Eat Stuff

Breakfast: Plain bagel with butter

Lunch: Turkey and American Cheese on Potato Bread, Pepsi mini can

Dinner: Turkey and American Cheese on Potato Bread

Snacks: Venti Mango Dragonfruit Refresher with Lemonade, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, 3 Fudge Graham cookies

Water: 33.8 fl oz

myfitnesspal notes 1660 calories consumed with a goal of 1400 per day – not awful intake considering the reckless snacking

Safe to say there’s room for improvement here…
